The Other World

Culture & commentary

Old virtues, stated plainly

Arguments about ideas and institutions, family, faith, ownership, duty. We argue about policies and principles here, not about people.

Family

The household is the last sovereign institution

Marriage, children and a home you own are not lifestyle options, they are the only structures that have ever reliably transmitted capital, faith and character across generations. Treat yours like the institution it is.

Self-reliance

Dependence is a business model

Whole industries are built on keeping you subscribed, indebted and unskilled. Every skill you learn and every dollar you stop borrowing takes a customer off someone's books.

Faith

A man needs something above himself

Without an authority higher than appetite, discipline collapses into mood. Tradition is not nostalgia; it is compressed evidence about what actually works.

Institutions

Credentials are not competence

The credentialing class charges a fortune to certify judgment it does not possess. Judge institutions by their track record, not their letterhead.

Responsibility

Blame is a comfortable prison

The system genuinely is rigged in places, and no accurate description of that fact has ever paid a man's mortgage. Diagnose honestly, then act as if the outcome is yours.

Duty

Build for men you will never meet

Rome's roads outlived Rome. Plant orchards, buy assets, raise children, write things down. Legacy is the only return that compounds past your own lifetime.
